The United Nepali Association (UNA) has launched a nationwide pressure campaign to ensure the continuity of citizenship rights for Nepalis living abroad.

Established as a joint organization of Nepalis living in the United States, UNA has been collaborating with other Nepali organizations on the continuation of citizenship for expatriate Nepalis and other common issues.

According to a statement issued by the organization’s spokesperson, Pawan Yonjan, the UNA is encouraged by the positive response received within a week of the campaign launched for the right to continuity of citizenship.

UNA is active for the right to continuity of citizenship of Nepalis and for a long-term, positive and powerful impact for the common good, the statement said, “Through joint efforts and unity, greater change is possible. For that, we are always ready to collaborate and join hands with other organizations that share common goals.”

The support they received in interactions with Kulman Ghising, former CEO of Nepal Electricity Authority in Dallas, and Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi, spokesperson for the RPP and member of the House of Representatives, in Virginia, has added enthusiasm to the campaign launched by the UNA.

UNA President Bhakta Bahadur Bhandari suspected that the Nepali government was trying to restrict the citizenship rights and facilities enjoyed by Nepalis living abroad, despite the slogan saying, “Once a Nepali, always a Nepali.” He said, “We need to stand united against the evil attempt to take away the rights of Nepalis living abroad.”

Bhandari said that it is necessary to pressure the government to ensure the rights and privileges of Nepalis living abroad under the constitution.

He urged Nepalis living abroad to support, cooperate, and cooperate in the campaign being conducted by the UNA.
