Dallas (USA) – Former Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, has indicated that his next journey will be political.
He said at an event organized in Dallas, Texas, USA on Friday that he is entering politics to make the country completely light. ‘I made the country light with electricity, now I am committed to bringing light to all sectors,’ he said.
He also said that since the country cannot be illuminated by the light of lamps alone, he is actively reaching out to Nepalis abroad to illuminate all areas of the country.
Referring to his 30-year service at the Nepal Electricity Authority, he claimed that the government had removed him with good intentions. “I have no complaints about the government firing me with zero marks for my performance. The respect given to me by Nepalis all over the world is the indicator of my performance,” he said.
Ghising, who was born in Ramechhap, did not reveal which party or district he would enter politics from. However, many interpreted him as trying to enter politics from Rasuwa because he repeatedly repeated the Chilime Hydropower Project, giving shares to the people of Rasuwali and making them rich.
During that speech, he expressed sympathy for National Independent Party President Ravi Lamichhane, saying that those who entered politics with the intention of doing something were imprisoned and that the youth were discouraged.
Ghising, who was clearly dissatisfied with political parties and leaders, said that despite many political changes, no one has been able to provide leadership for development, indicating that he is ready for it. He claimed that Bright Nepal is focused on delivering development to the people.
Like the leaders of political parties, Ghising also promised to grant dual citizenship if he reached the place. Leaders of every political party have been assuring that dual citizenship is necessary while coming to America and giving speeches.
Noting that he had recently visited some Middle Eastern countries and sought advice from Nepalis working there, he announced his plan to visit the US and now Europe to seek the opinions of Nepali expatriates.
On that occasion, UNA founding president Pasang Lama, current president Bhakta Bhandari, and outgoing president BN Pant, among others, expressed the view that ‘Mission 84’ should be supported, stating that the desire of the Nepali diaspora is a peaceful and prosperous Nepal.
A large number of participants were waiting to interact with former Executive Director Ghising and ask questions. However, after the program’s organizers assigned a presenter to conduct the podcast, the participants left disappointed that they were not able to ask their questions. Ghising did not get the opportunity to take or listen to any questions from the public.
